Throughout my childhood, nursing career, bringing up a family and working in a craft village, I have gained expertise in a huge variety of crafts. These include sewing, cross stitch, dress making, felting and needle felting, paper craft, wirework and jewellery making. I have also completed an NCFE in Creative Textiles.
I have gone on to undertake commissions, create pictures, make brooches, design bespoke wedding tiaras and sculpt animals, selling items through various local craft outlets.
I have a relaxed and informal style of teaching with the emphasis being on having fun, while creating a unique piece of work. I regularly teach groups with a variety of skill levels, from beginner to experienced crafter. I have a City and Guilds Level 3 Teaching and Assessing award which underpins the various workshops I run. My teaching experience includes local crafting workshops, adult evening courses at New College Swindon, needle felting at the Bristol School of Sewing and Textiles and as a Craft Leader for a Swindon based charity running regular craft sessions for people with mental health and learning issues.
I have experience in a wide range of crafts, that I could offer from stand alone hour sessions (embroidered or needle felted brooches, wirework dragonflies, simple beaded necklaces, bookmarks or paper flowers) to longer projects requiring several sessions (needle felted 3D animals or pictures, wired tiaras and hair combs, beaded flowers and wire butterflies).
The opportunity to combine 3 things I enjoy cruising, crafting and teaching would hopefully be a very rewarding experience.
