Lewis Lucke, former US Ambassador, author, world traveler, international aid worker

Ambassador Lucke worked overseas in 15 countries for 30+ years “with his boots on” in Africa, the Middle East and Latin America

Amb Lucke led the largest US financed reconstruction program since the Marshall Plan in Iraq; he led the US response to the 2010 Haiti earthquake and was US Ambassador in the last absolute monarchy in Africa. He witnessed the fall of communism and had a front row seat to Gulf Wars I and II.

Lucke worked closely with four US Presidents, two Kings and Queens, many heads of state and even met Shirley Temple when she was a US Ambassador.

Ambassador Lucke has written two books about his work abroad: “Waiting for Rain” about Mali, West Africa and “From Timbuktu to Duck and Cover: Improbable Tales of a Career in Foreign Service”.

An experienced speaker for 45 years, Ambassador Lucke shines a spotlight on significant events and people from around the world, told with wit and humor.
