I have for over 20 years been a student of Ancient Civilizations. My initial studies were on the history of Ancient Egypt, later I expanded my knowledge to cover ancient civilizations that existed around the world.

My knowledge has been gained whilst studying at Manchester& Liverpool University, and open learning studies with Oxford University to obtain my diplomas and the Penn University in America.

I also have considerable practical experience having worked in the Petrie Museum at the UCLA in London and also at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo on a special project working alongside world renowned archeologist Dr Zawi Hawass.

I have acted as a cultural and destinations guide for small groups that I have accompanied on numerous trips to various ancient sites within the Red Sea and Mediterranean areas.

When I am at home I run an Egyptology group for The University of the 3rd Age and also give regular talks to various Associations.

I have recently completed a 28 day cruise on HAL Princendam Grand Mediterranean and Africa World Voyage.

The following are the Cruise Companies I have given presentations on. Thompson, Saga, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity Cruises, Serenade of the Seas, Independence of the Seas, Princess Cruises, Holland America, P & O / Cunard, MSC cruises. Cruise & Maritime.

Presentations

1. The ancient 7 wonders of the world and the new 7 wonders

The amazing works of art and architecture known as the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World serve as a testament to the ingenuity, imagination and sheer hard work of which human beings are capable. Ultimately, human hands joined with natural forces to destroy all but one of the wonders. Furthermore, it is possible that at least one of the wonders might not have existed at all. Still, all seven continue to inspire and be celebrated as the remarkable products of the creativity and skill of Earth’s early civilizations. The new 7 wonders are just as amazing.

2. X marks the spot

These days, thanks largely to Google Earth, it seems not an inch of this planet is left unexplored or a single treasure left undiscovered. But that’s just not true. Some of the world’s most incredible riches, from pirate treasures to royal jewels, are still out there somewhere, lost, waiting to be found.

Some of them are legendary and a mere mention spurs the imagination: the Holy Grail, sought after for centuries by devout men hoping to find the cup that once held the blood of Christ. Or El Dorado, the mythical Incan city paved with gold and unimaginable treasure that drove waves of conquistadores mad with greed.

3. In Search of Treasure Part 1

Howard Carter was an English archaeologist and Egyptologist who became world-famous after discovering the intact tomb of the 18th Dynasty Pharaoh, Tutankhamun (known as “King Tut” and “the boy king”) in November 1922. I will tell the story of his meeting with the English Lord and their search for the richest prize.

4. In Search of Treasure Part 2: The Treasures of two Pharaohs

The 1922 discovery by Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon of Tutankhamun’s intact tomb received worldwide press coverage. It sparked a renewed public interest in ancient Egypt, for which Tutankhamun’s mask, now in the Egyptian Museum, remains the popular symbol. The “mysterious” deaths of a few of those who excavated Tutankhamun’s tomb have been popularly attributed to the curse of the pharaohs. Also the silver pharaoh whose treasures were just as great as Tutankamun’s, but who was forgotten for 50 years in the museum basement.

5. Well I never knew that.

Ancient inventions that are still in use today in our everyday lives.

7. Mercaneries of the Sea

The true story of the pirates of the Caribbean.

8. Two Legends of Rock & Roll

The lives and times of two of the most iconic rock and roll stars of the 20th century. Roy Orbison and Elvis Presley.
